Women have started cults like Eve who usurped Adam’s authority. Jesus told the woman at the well to go call her husband, why did Satan no tell Eve to go call her husband.

There are women who are stalwart biblical, and then there are those who find discomfort with the cannon. Those who find discomfort with the 66 are unholy and unfit for ministry. If the ministry grows closer to the standards of Paul and above him, Yeshua, in a biblical manner, then there is nothing to argue against. One should just maintain disearnment and be open to constantly investigate sermons as one does with the more common norm. Take them into prayer and may they be reminded of the heresy of goddeship which is one of the historical reasons the letter was sent to the community, since the early greek converts would fall for such deception from time to time and it needed to be hulted, and so Paul sought out to do just that regarding that church. May they know and remember who they are going to bear witness to upon death and not drift, for the responsibility is heavy upon the shoulders of those who teach and who are in ministry leadership.

few observations regarding this lecture. The Deborah and the Old testament did not want to lead Israel but she did because there was no man wanted to take on the responsibility. What is the criteria you're using to suggest that Deborah was an Old testament apostleI? Most of this lecture basically confirms women in ministry I don't think anywhere in the Bible it speaks against women being in ministry. The question is should women have authority over men in a church and preach and teach in a church. There is nothing wrong with women publicly preaching the gospel to people teaching the gospel to people publicly. Paul address the authority that a woman should have in a church according to 1 Timothy. I don't see any contradiction in the New testament at all about that statement. To a certain degree the lecture is mixing apples and oranges and not comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges That's just my observation regarding the lecture. I think the lecture is good in the sense of presenting his argument which allow for genuine reflection. I think our culture has more influence on the church than the church on the culture. There's too much emphasis on what we can't do versus what we can do. Women have written Christian books on the subject of theology, teaching the Bible, teaching on podcast UA-cam there are so many ways to share the gospel. Simply put the church is not like any organization It's the church function is different from secular organizations. It does not diminish a woman if she doesn't preach or teach in the church nor does it gives her more importance to preach and teach in a church.

Adam was certainty not 1st man. Scripture means what it says & says what it means. So when Jesus said from the beginning of the creation God made them male & female’ also.. ‘he which made them at the beginning made them male & female’.. Gen1:1 Mk10:6 Matt19:4 Mk13:19 Heb1:10 The wonderful thing about believing holy scripture is freedom from doubt. This act to which Jesus referred was: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male & female created he them & God blessed them’, & God said to them, “Be fruitful, & multiply, & replenish the earth, & subdue it: & have dominion over the fish of the sea, & over the fowl of the air, & over every living thing that moves upon the earth & God said, Behold, I have given you EVERY. ( Yes here it says every read all inclusive ) herb yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, & EVERY tree, ( Yes here it says every read all inclusive) in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food.” Gen1:27-29 But when God made Adam and placed him in GARDEN God was very specific ; And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: ] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. Genesis 2:16-19 Adam was specifically told v2:17 not eat of Tree knowledge of good and evil. Gen1 and Gen2 are separate accounts. Time betwixt 2event unspecified Jesus was clear also. For He did not say from time of Garden He made Adam and Eve. But rather Jesus spoke on this wise. from the beginning of the creation God made them male & female’ also.. ‘he which made them at the beginning made them male & female Not Adam and Eve, not from the time of garden. Jesus meant what was said and said what he meant Adam and Eve were not in the creation... accept that scripture means what is said and says what it means Man in Gen1 was made From nothing Ex-Nehlio... Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Yet Adam in Gen2 was formed from dust of ground and Eve was formed from Adam's rib... thus Adam and Eve of Gen2 are not made Ex-nehlio from nothing as were the man and woman in the beginning thus Gen1 and Gen2 are completely different events😂

Watts is mistaken about one crucial thing We don't need to choose between scripture and philosophy. Yes, the temple God needs us to keep is the one within us, and yes it is through understanding of and living within the image of the Divine character that this temple is built and maintained, but we absolutely cannot get there without the language of virtue studied and written onto jour hearts. Much philosophy is a ponderous waste of time, but not all.

Of course women can be in ministry. They have spiritual gifts and can apply them right in the church. I have never heard debate over this. The question is women in authoritative roles as pastor's and preachers in a church context. I don't agree with this egalitarian conclusion, but I have to give Craig credit. This is the best and most consistent explanation of this.

It would be great if Dr. Keener could make this case without the ridicule. Some of us are truly trying to figure out what Paul was saying. Also, it's a weak argument to say that no one obeys 1 Corinthians 14:43-35 fully therefore women are not prohibited from teaching. Maybe we are wrong for allowing women to sing or make announcements in church since Paul says they are not allowed to speak. I would be interesting in hearing why Dr. Keener is not persuaded by Dr. Fee's argument that v 34-35 is an interpolation.

We've got a pretty serious error in logic early in the presentation on the slide titled "Where does the Biblical Evidence Point?" On the "For women's ministry side" we have individual women listed for most of those categories, and make up a majority of the evidences on that side of the chart. An accurate comparison on the "Against Women's Ministry" side would be a list of all the MEN in those same categories (male prophets, judges, apostles and fellow workers/ministers). This would obviously require an entire slide deck of it's own, or very teeny tiny font. So three minutes into this thing, I'm already suspicious of either the motives behind the presentation, or the skill of the presenter. Since the conclusion on the slide itself states that the "percentage of texts" favors the "For Women's ministry" position, I can only assume at this point the presenters entire interpretive framework is going to be influenced by what he considers to be the preponderance of evidence, which he clearly judged incorrectly.

I respect Pastor Jennings... but i do not agree with all that he says.... Joel 2:28-29: 28: It shall come to pass afterward (last days) that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. Jennings know of these Scriptures.... 1 Cor 14:34-35: Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also says the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. (Where in the Law does it say that women are to be silent in the church? (True the women is to be in obedient to her husband. This has to do with house, and relationship of married couples... but has nothing to do with Church. And, IF Paul is speaking of women not to SPEAK in church... then not to speak means not to SAY NOTHING IN CHURCH. It means she cannot open her mouth to sing, give announcement, greet others. Speaking is talking. And says, if the woman learn anything, her husband is to teach her. Well, what if she does not have a husband. Is she to be ignorant of our soul-saving-Bible? 1st. Cor 14:34-35 is misinterpreted by some preachers.) 1 Cor 14:36-38: 36: (preachers ignore this continuation of this passage of Scripture.) Vs. 36: What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37: If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38: But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. (Seems like Paul is reprimanding the Corinthian church... and asking them a question. Additionally, seems like Paul is telling us whose commands these are in 1st. Corinthians.) 1st. Tim 2:12-14: But I suffer (I... I, Paul do not allow. I, not God) not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13: For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14: And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. The transgression in the Garden of Eden has nothing to do with women speaking in church. Peace)

Eve was tricked by the serpent with the assistance of Adam. Note, Adam does not object to the snake being in the garden, even though God had given him counsel to the effect of "keep," as in guard the garden, he does not protect Eve from the serpent, and he stands by silently while the serpent slanders God's character. Then his remedy in the whole situation is to eat, nor does he step up as a godly man or leader, to stop the conversation, no he doesn't do that, nor does he call out for God in the midst of this crisis for help. Adam deliberately disobeyed. He was clearly in rebellion. Proverbs 17:11. Then when Adam was asked what happened he blamed God and Eve, does not even mention the snake. Eve was the only one who pointed out the presence of the serpent. Adam concealed this fact because he had allowed the snake to be there, going against what God had told him to do. Romans 5.

Is this heresy? Are we all so focused on interpreting ancient texts, instead of becoming better Christians? As I show now, John is wrong and obviously hasn't done his research. John initially tells us we have a problem, if we think we know everything, then continues to dogmatically instruct us that his view is absolute. As a scientist I feel certain John is wrong (my perspective) and the creation narrative has much more cosmological significance than he realises. Not that it's important, as we should be focusing on being better Christians. John however suggests the ancient people had no idea that the stars and planets were objects, when that is totally inaccurate. The Sumerians clearly depict the Sun as a round central body, with the planets in our solar system in orbit around it, they also believed that a giant planet called nibiru was orbiting our sun, something which NASA now believes and is actually searching for. John also refers to the Egyptians not knowing what the lights in the sky were, but he's ignored the fact that the Egyptians aligned the pyramids with the stars, they talked about different planets, new stars were objects and were big on astrology. John's overly simplistic 'theory' could in some ways be classed as heretical, but we should remember it's only his point of view and he's entitled to it. The takeaway with this lecture is obvious,,, it is a waste of time. Not just this lecture, but a waste of time for any Christian to spend hours musing over the meaning of the Old Testament, instead of spending that time trying to make themselves a better person, or in helping someone in need. Christians devote hours trying to interpret the Word, which as can be seen from this lecture, is so open to interpretation and misinterpretation, that it truly is a waste of your time. The translations from Hebrew to Greek and then English etc also vary immensely, there are countless versions, but even just one word can make an enormous difference to a verses meaning. Attempting to understand the Bible does not help you to feel closer to God, the confusion it creates causes discord and disharmony. I believe this is why Christ left us with but two Commandments, to love God with all our heart and all our soul, And our neighbour as ourselves. Adhering to these two Commandments presents a lifetime of challenges alone, especially loving your neighbor as yourself! If 99% of Christians spent 99% of their time working on loving their neighbour instead of pouring over scripture, the world would be a much better place! As it is, they spend so much time arguing over interpretation that you can't even get Christians to love one another, even though they all believe in Christ! There's 40,000+ different denominations who all believe the Bible slightly differently, but think they are right! That's one of the reasons they didn't originally translate the Bible into English, so everyone could make up their own mind on their heart. Now there's so much disharmony among Christians and, Evangelists, so called born again Christians appear to be the worst of all. They spend so much time learning Bible passages to quote in order to make themselves feel superior, but then they judge and condemn all other Christian denominations. They seem to forget that Baptists, Catholics, Anglicans and 7th Day Adventists etc etc etc are all Christians too. All trying their best in their own way. Most interestingly, all these other denominations were only started, due to their pastor having a difference in Biblical 'interpretation' and deciding to create his own Church. This was probably another reason Jesus only gave us 2 commandments and why, at least as far as we can tell, Jesus did not carry around scrolls and preach the Old Testament all the time! There was a reason He taught us the importance of taking the rod out of our own eye and avoiding judging others! Yet how many people practice this? In many ways John's theory is totally obvious and while interesting to hear his perspective, that's all it is. Rather than listening to this lecture and others, it would be far better to spend an hour praying and meditating on becoming less judgemental and more accepting, less gossipy and more thoughtful, and more like Him and less like Satan. For it's Satan who wants us to complain, condemn and criticize other Christians/non Christians, but it's Christ who asks us to love one another. Unless we try to be more like Him, we end up being more like Satan! Think about it, how many times a day you judge, curse, criticize or gossip about someone (that's Satan). Compare that with how many times you speak kindly, show compassion, kindness or love to your neighbour! Reviewing this will quickly allow you to see who is in your heart more, Satan Or Christ! Remember you can study the Bible all you like, but how is that helping you, if you're still a terrible person. If a non Christians hears you, will that make them want to become a Christian, or call you a hypocrite? We have to lead by example.in the way we live, not by quoting scriptures. Working on ourselves, praying for guidance and wisdom, has to be the most important part of being a Christian. Then when others meet us and see how we live, they too will want Christ in their hearts.

Paul must be schizophrenic because in 1 cor 11:3-6 he says women need to cover their heads when praying or prophesying in church! Then in a few chapters later in 14 he forbids them to speak! Priscilla in acts 18:26 she is teaching Apollo the gospel along with her husband. They had a church in their home. Her name comes first which gives her more honor. 1 Tim 2 and 1 cor 14 are situational not normative. Where would the church be if women hadn't been missionaries? They were preaching the gospel to both men and women. Women do most of the work in the church. The Holy Spirit fell on both men and women. The Spirit decides who gets what gifts. If He gives the gift of teaching or preaching to a women who r u to differ? Paul is not schizophrenic. So there has to be something wrong with those 2 scriptures. Or in our understanding

As long as you understand Genesis 1 was copied fro the earlier Sumerians Epic of Creation then that's okay.

I don't think this is the end all be all on women in ministry, but this definitely made me think a little harder on women pastors and other smaller things.

I like Brother Walton. I am actually just getting into his work. I agreed with most of Brother Fleener's points, but I don't appreciate him turning it into a semi-debate. I think both brothers are correct.

Very nice survey of the various views and logical problems with many of them. However, he kind of danced around taking a position on the two passages that specifically command women not to teach and to keep silent. It is important to note that women usurping authority is the key to understanding. As he said, the culture was one where interruptions were allowed and encouraged. We live in a highly feminized society where we have wrongly been taught that interruptions are rude. 1 Cor. 14:30 shows this is the specific context for women to be silent. Both passages refer to the same foundation for his teaching: the law (Torah). The 1 Tim. 2 passage gets into the nitty gritty details of what the Torah teaches about this: 1) Adam was first formed, then Eve formed for man, 2) Adam was not deceived but the woman was. The implication of mentioning childbirth is that because they were one, and man could not replenish the earth without the woman, Adam's sin was not one of deception, but a sin of solidarity with his wife. So the teaching of the law is that women should be in subjection to the man in working out her salvation. I should also point out that Greek does not have a separate word for wife and woman, so the main focus here could be looked at as husband and wives interrupting each other in the church. That could be shameful for the husband. Or even in disputes of opposite genders, many men would feel shame to rebuke a woman whereas not with another man. There is an innate desire for men to be chivalrous and polite toward women, treating them with greater respect and care. Therefore, in this context, let women be silent and refrain from teaching in this kind of debate style situation. A woman trying to inject herself in this kind of debate and rebuke type of teaching would just shut down that kind of interaction completely. Let the men hash out doctrinal disagreements in the church. Let the wives ask their husbands at home if they want to learn. They should not challenge the men and usurp authority over them in this type of format.

Are you saying women can only be saved with help of a man? The only man that can save a woman is Jesus Christ. A single woman can be saved, too. I am sure I misunderstood you. Salvation is a first tier subject. There is only one way and that is through Christ. Whether you are a man, woman, or child. God bless

This guy is a deluded nutter who apparently believes that the Creator of the Cosmos, 13.8 billion years ago, decided to crawl up inside a virgin girl's poon hole in ancient Palestine, 2,000 years ago, and deposit his cosmic seed in her uterus. Apparently he felt fatherhood calling for the first time in 14 billion years. And the 'son' that came from this union spent a year or so performing magic tricks and telling people that the world was about to end, when it fact it wasn't. And ultimately the 'son' fulfilled the Creator's purlose for him by being hung from chunk of wood and killed as some kind of sick, twisted blood atonement for the supposed terrible sins of humankind. Now if any part of this pile of superstitious horse manure seems rational to you, I implore you to locate the nearest doctor that specializes in lobotomy and schedule your appointment immediately. Because in your current state, your brain has the reasoning ability of the average Chimpanzee.

Anglicans do so because of Biblical evidence and monastic tradition. Its so easy to see that an Abbess is an Apostle but not ordained, a nun is a Presbyter but not ordained and a sister is a deaconess but not ordained. They are not ordained so they cannot perform Sacraments but otherwise their duties mimic those of their clergy colleagues. We started to ordain the monastic women because of this.

Obviously Fleener didn’t craft his talk to address this specific talk by Walton in this very moment, but it didn’t sound like Walton was denying material origin in any sense. He was simply saying that the writers angle was not centered around materialism. I don’t really get why Fleener kept bringing up how all the other church fathers were able to pull things about the material from the Genesis account. Of course you can do that, but doesn’t mean it should be the central focus. The parallels between the Garden of Eden and the tabernacle/temple are STAGGERING. That alone should tell you that the focus of the author is pointed towards something specific. 7 days creation sequence, 7 day temple inauguration, the geographical location of the garden as it relates to the rest of earth, the point of God’s rest… it’s clear to me that the author was going after a particular angle and to settle in on material creation (in my opinion) is all you have to focus on when you don’t consider the heavy cultural influence.
